Interesting tip found in Shape Mag, June 09 issue:
“the pep talk that gets instant results”
the next time you need to pull off an all-star move, say something that boosts your confidence or reminds you what to do. A study shows that people who declared either “i can jump high” or “bend and drive ” aloud before doing the move, produced more power than when they said nothing. Apparently self-talk sends a message to the part of the brain that controls how well your muscles work together which gives you the extra oomph.

Well thats good to know! Cause I <3 me some talking to myself! Now a reason! Should I answer back? Does the study say if that helps or hinders?

I think “dad Freel” just turned MY dad into a runner with that last thought! Ha!
Note to self: Give directions out loud. listen to said directions. Apply directions. Repeat!

I was running my first 10K through the vineyards and all the sudden in the 3rd mile I crested a hill (for the 100th time) and at that moment Pink came on the ipod. I threw my hands up and screamed “I am a rockstar” and I flew down the hill at breakneck speed not caring if I fell in a large animal hole and twisting my ankle. Luckily, i survived and i wasn’t embarassed at all…although, Julie may have been slightly embarassed to be seen with me after that.
